Jeffrey Jacob Schoessler

July 20th, 1954 - January 4th, 2018

Jeffrey Jacob Schoessler passed away on January 4th, 2018 after a short illness at Providence St. Vincent’s Hospital in Portland. His passing has left many broken hearts. Jeff was born on July 20th, 1954 in Walla Walla, Washington where he attended public schools. He graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1972, then attended Walla Walla Community College where he attained his AA degree. Jeff moved to the greater Portland area in the early 80’s where he enjoyed his job as a baker at several different bakeries in the area. Later, Jeff attended Clackamas Community College where he earned an Assoc. Degree in Graphic Arts. He soon went to work as a photographer for the local newspaper in Oregon city. Further proving his talent he entered a nationwide photography competition and placed 2nd among hundreds of entries. Having creative interests, Jeff took up painting. He proved quite adept at water colors and soon displayed then sold several of his works through local merchants when he resided in West Linn. Jeff was a kind hearted soul with friends from many walks of life. He played the guitar and was an avid music fan of everything from rock to classical harp. Many a night was spent gathered with friends singing and reminiscing about good times. He loved the outdoors and being around people. He was especially passionate about fishing and camping. Jeff also liked to be at the beach with friends and family. When his dad Arthur was alive – Jeff was a constant companion on his father’s cabin cruiser where they enjoyed each other’s company and of course, catching fish. Later Jeff had many fun days fly fishing on the Salmon River with his brother Van. Jeff was an accomplished photographer and enjoyed taking photos during his outdoor adventures. Jeff was especially close with his sister Sue. When he moved to Newberg they enjoyed many new adventures with Sue and his nephews of whom he was especially fond. As siblings they were there for each other always. Jeff is survived by his sister Sue Schoessler of Newberg; nephews Kurt Jorgensen Kipp Jorgensen and Kayden Jorgensen also of Newberg; and his brother Van Schoessler of Bend; and numerous cousins in the Northwest. He was preceded in death by his mother Marida Schoessler and father Arthur Schoessler. A memorial gathering is planned for February 10th in Newberg. The time and location will be announced in the near future.
