Jennie Greco

Mrs. Jennie Greco, 86 years old, of Stewart Street, died Saturday morning at River Ridge Living Center. She was born July 23, 1925 in Amsterdam, a daughter of Anthony and Carmella Petrosino Ottati. Jennie was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, class of 1943 and a graduate of Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Nursing School, class of 1947. She also received advanced training at the Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia for Eye Surgery. Jennie worked as an operating room Registered Nurse for Amsterdam Memorial Hospital for 40 years and was also an instructor for various programs. She had been a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and the St. Sophie's Society of the Church. Jennie was a member of the Amsterdam Nursing Association and was in the first group of trained volunteers for Hospice of Amsterdam. She enjoyed ceramics and enjoyed working with stained glass. Jennie is survived by her husband, Dr. Daniel J. Greco, whom she married June 18, 1950. She is also survived by her sons: Anthony D. Rebecca Greco of Wexford, PA and Robert P. Barbara Greco of Medford, NJ; her brothers: Vito Ottati of Perth and James "Jerry" Ottati of Amsterdam; her sisters Sophie Picciocca of Amsterdam and Margaret DeRocco of Cape Cod; Seven grandchildren: Christopher, Phillip, Courtney, Jeoffrey, Daniel M. and Kylie Greco and Katie Gorczynski; two great grandchildren: Sofia Terese and Claire Kelly; nieces, nephews and cousins. Jennie was predeceased by her sisters: Raffale Greco, Frances Genatiempo, Grace Foster and Fannie Ottati. Funeral services will be held 8:15am Tuesday at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed at 9:15am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 4 until 7:00pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church or Community Hospice of Amsterdam c/o the funeral home.
