Jerry Albert Alsop

Jerry Albert Alsop March 8, 1943 - December 26, 2013 Jerry Albert Alsop age 70, of Golden, Colorado passed away December 26, 2013 after a lengthy battle with heart disease. He was surrounded by his family and passed peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Alsop of Golden Colorado, Sons Jerry Alsop Jr., Michael (Lynn) Alsop of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, daughter Tamara (Jeff) Schmitz of Random Lake, Wisconsin, and brother Randy (Kelly) Steeves of Missouri. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jeremy (Shawna) Baker, Kyle (Chelsey) Schmitz, Amanda Schmitz, Josh Alsop, Nicole Alsop, Cole Alsop, great grandson Ethan Baker in addition to twelve nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by: his parents Ellsworth Alsop and Helen Pierce; his brothers; Ronald and Eugene Alsop; and sister Barbara McGee. Born in and lifelong resident of Denver, Colorado most recently Golden. Worked at Coors Ceramics Co., of Golden, Colorado for 28 years. Owned and ran a liquor store in Lakewood. Retired, became bored and began a part-time job at Checker which became rather full time. Retired again. Health issues made it necessary to limit much activity. Jerry loved NASCAR and was willing to watch in person, watch on television, record and then watch again, and again. He loved fishing, hunting, ice fishing, camping and virtually anything that could be done in the mountains of Colorado or in Wisconsin. His most prized possession was his family; his three children, Jerry Jr., Michael Alsop and Tammy Alsop Schmitz. Even more than his children he loved his grandchildren; Jeremy, Kyle, Josh, Nicole, Amanda, and Cole and his great grandson Ethan Baker. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
