Jerry W. Douglas

Jerry Wayne Douglas, age 75, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, 2:00 PM, at Pleasant Ridge Community Church, 1826 Pleasant Ridge Rd, Greensboro, North Carolina, 27410. Jerry was born January 16, 1948 to the late James Doulglas and Ruby Paige Douglas in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was devoted to the Catholic Church and was a member of The Knights of Columbus. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his nephew Darrell Hinson. He graduated from Ben L. Smith High School and attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Becoming a father, he then decided his daughters' education was more important and chose family over his own educational journey. He was an avid reader, loved the ocean, and a constant jokester, always loving to laugh and see others smile. His giving nature was unmatched, never thought twice about helping those he cared about, many he never met. Throughout his life, he was faced with multiple physical obstacles; but he was a fighter. He successfully fought many life threatening illnesses; continuing the fight when it came to his daughter Cindy, who also faced life threatening illnesses of her own. Jerry loved his family, but none more than his daughters Amanda and Cindy. He was always willing to sacrifice anything for their happiness, health, and security. He is survived by daughters: Amanda Douglas and Cindy (William) Wyrick; siblings: Shirley Earman, Ronnie Douglas, and Marchelle (Don) Moody; six grandchildren: Brandon, Taryn, James, Chris, CarlyAnn, Payton, and William; 6 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
