Jerry Spencer Griffin

Jerry Spencer Griffin, 80, of Graham, NC passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, June 15, 2023. A native of Alamance County, NC, Jerry was the husband of 55 years to Kay Loy Griffin and the son of Clifton Griffin, Jr. and Florence Wood Griffin, both deceased. Jerry attended Alexander Wilson School and was in the first graduating class at Southern High School in 1961. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard serving more than 5 years. Jerry was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church for over 70 years where he served in many capacities, the last as Chief Usher. He was a member of the Mt. Hermon Memorial Association for more than 50 years, serving on the Nomination Committee. He retired from Burlington Industries, Burlington Fabrics with more than 40 years of service. Jerry was an avid Duke fan, golfer, and Corvette enthusiast. He enjoyed and supported his daughters and grandchildren in all of their sports endeavors, continuously traveling from game to game not to miss a single one. Jerry was still active with his former Alexander Wilson classmates and was recently able to join their monthly breakfast meeting. Survivors include his wife, Kay of the home; daughters, Windy Griffin of Graham, NC, and Kasey Alexander and husband, Kenric of Apex, NC; grandchildren, Kaylea Carter, Allye Carter, Tyler Carter, Wesley Alexander, and Jordan Alexander; brother, Doug Griffin and wife, Angela of Graham, NC; niece, Rebecca Griffin; and nephew, Clifton Griffin and wife, Erica. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, Graham, NC with Rev. Rick Moser, Rev. Keith Porter, and Chaplain Darrell Ranger officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family greet friends from 1:00PM to 3:00PM Sunday prior to the service at the church.
