Jerry Gutierrez (J.R. Photo) born November 19, 1949 passed away suddenly on Friday, July 03, 2020. Surrounded by his loving partner, Yvonne (Puppet) Byers Hults and grandson Andrew Chairez who had been his caregivers since his stroke. Jerry Ortega Gutierrez was raised in Fence Lake, NM on his family's ranch. During his teen years he lived in Albuquerque, married and eventually relocated to California. He worked at U.S.C. in the groundskeeping department and earned his Associates Degree in Black & White Photography where he put it to good use working as a freelance photographer for Victoria's Secrets, Playboy, Super bowl's, 911 as well as traveling the world with renowned music artists, actors, etc.. His lifelong dream had come true when he started working for the Associated Press! He did odd jobs to support his family at TI-Tech International working with titanium until he was electrocuted, and his life would not be the same. Jerry divorced and relocated back to Albuquerque, did odd jobs to keep himself occupied and retired from photography, except he would take photos of different clubs (Midnite Rodeo, Graham Central) and hence earned the name "J.R. Photo" Jerry would take pictures and freely give them to the persons in the picture. He was well-liked and if you were in need, he would give you the shirt off his back, buy you a meal and even help with the money! He started working at a small restaurant and met Yvonne Byers-Hults "Puppet" who would become the true love of his life. They moved to Rio Rancho and eventually retired. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother Mary Jane, stepfather Jake Ortega, Father Roy Gutierrez; brothers; Alex Lujan, Sam Aguilar, Kenny and Jimmy Ortega, and confidant, Bill (Mr. Williams) Byers.
