Jerry H Humphrey

Jerry H. Humphrey, 77, of Second Street in Amsterdam passed away on Sunday the 24th of June at his home, with his loving wife, Judy, by his side. Born in 1940 on the family farm in Richlands North Carolina to the late Horace Grant Humphrey and Carrie Mae Humphrey Jerry moved to New York as a teenager after working to save up for a bus ticket. Jerry Humphrey and Judy were wed on November 9th 1963 and shared a wonderful life together until his passing. During their time together Jerry enjoyed bowling, betting on horses, and watching NASCAR; his favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, daughters Cindy (Robert) Wells of Amsterdam, and Tracy (Robert) Valentino of Highland, NY, two sisters of North Carolina; Linda Marshburn, and Kathy Covert, brother Bobby Humphrey of NY, grandchildren Mark Halstead Jr, Robert Valentino III, Coreena Valentino, and Salina Valentino as well as several nieces and nephews. Jerry was predeceased by his parents Horace, and Carrie as well as one brother Jimmy Humphrey. Memorial contributions may be made to The Lung Cancer Foundation of America at 15 S. Franklin Street New Ulm, MN 56073. Private services will be held at the family’s convenience.
