Jerry Lynn Manis
January 7th, 1961 - April 19th, 2017
Jerry Lynn Manis, age 56, of Surgoinsville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at his home. He was a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Jerry also loved riding his Harley-Davidson and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Evan Clay and Caroline Manis; maternal grandparents, Jesse James and Dora Lee Manis; mother, Mary Carpenter; father, James Manis; niece, Cadence Carpenter; and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Manis of the home; daughter, Jessica Lynn Manis of Eidson; step-sons, Brandon Kite and wife Jennifer, of Rogersville, and Trae Thurman of Surgoinsville; nieces, Amber and Megan Thacker of the home; granddaughter, Jacqueline Kite; brothers, James "Pete" Manis and wife, Naomi of Rogersville, Coy "Punkin" Carpenter and wife, Veronica, of Eidson, Steve Carpenter of Bulls Gap, and Charlie Carpenter and wife, Melissa of Mooresburg; sister, Debbie Thacker and husband, Kyle of Eidson; uncles, William "Bill" Manis of Kingsport, Paul Manis and Ben Manis both of Eidson; aunts, Hattie Collins of Kingsport, Mary Lamons of Morristown and Bonnie Nickels of Sneedville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Memorial services will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Ray Mullins and Pastor Jason Roach officiating. The family would like to invite all those who wish to bring their motorcycle and park it in front of the funeral home in honor of Jerry to do so on Friday night beginning at 5:00 pm.
