Jerry Lane Newnam

Jerry Lane Newnam, 86, of Greensboro went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2024 at Moses Cone Hospital. A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, he was the son of the late James Luther "Poppy" and Frances Lucille "Nannie" (Dolittle) Newnam and husband of Clara Newnam for 68 loving years. Jerry worked for Lorillard for 37 years as a Mechanical Supervisor and drove a tour bus for Holiday Tours for 20 years where he accomplished over 1 million safe driver miles. He was an avid street rod enthusiast and met many good friends throughout the years. Jerry is survived by his wife, Clara Newnam; daughters, Penny Jefferson (Randy) and Holly Newnam; granddaughter, Ashley Corbean (Ryan); great-granddaughter, Alexa Corbean; brother-in-laws, Dr. Charles Roberts (Brenda) and Harold Wrenn; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his sisters, Pat Taylor, Judy Kincaid, and Linda Wrenn. Memorial services will be held at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church on Friday, May 17th at 10:00 a.m. Following the service, there will be a family visitation period.
