Jerry Phillip Plunkett
May 8th, 1943 - March 1st, 2023
Jerry Phillip Plunkett of Salinas, California passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 1, 2023. Jerry was born in Macon, Georgia, and dedicated the greater part of his life to service in the U.S. Army, having spent 20 years as a Signal Corp Officer in various countries like Okinawa, South Korea, Germany, and Panama. Along with traveling, he also enjoyed volunteering in his free time and was dedicated to helping in classrooms, working with Meals on Wheels, and raising money for schools. He also had many spontaneous adventures traveling through the Military Space Available Program to South America, Asia, and Europe. Jerry was known for his sharp sense of humor and his deep love and care for his family. Jerry is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Betsy” Whelan Plunkett; daughter Patricia Scott Plunkett; son Kevin Phillip Plunkett; daughter-in-law Kimberly Cuadrasal Plunkett; grand-daughter Vivien Elize Plunkett; brother John R. Plunkett; and sister-in-law Leanne LeFond Plunkett. A memorial service for Jerry will be held on May 8th, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery, Seaside CA (2900 Parker Flats Road). A reception will be held at the family home following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Meals on Wheels, or the charity of your choice.

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
