Jerry Lynn Rasmuson

September 15th, 1935 - November 10th, 2012

Jerry Lynn Rasmuson passed away on November 10, 2012 in his home in Greenleaf, Idaho. He was born in Grandfield, Oklahoma on September 15, 1935 to Glen Arthur and Ina June Mashburn Rasmuson. His parents and his wife, Ida Junge-Lahman, preceded him in death. He graduated from Grandfield High School in 1953 and Oklahoma University in 1963. At his beloved OU he was a Sooner Roughneck and earned his degree in pharmacy. He married Margaret Delores Carroll in 1955 and they had one daughter, Julie Lynn Rasmuson. Jerry moved to Oceanside, California and worked at Harrison Drugstore for his uncle, James Harrison. There he met Ida Junge-Lahman and they wed on April 29, 1973. Jerry and Ida moved to Nampa, Idaho in 1977 where he worked for several different pharmacies until they eventually settled in Greenleaf, Idaho and bought Homedale Drugstore. Jerry and Ida loved to travel to the west coast for deep-sea fishing, go to rodeos and county fairs, and even haul potatoes. Jerry enjoyed throwing Christmas parties, gardening, cooking, eating barbeque and prime rib and more than anything watching Oklahoma football. He is survived by his daughter, Julie of Dallas, TX and his dear yellow lab, Buddy. He is also survived by his two stepdaughters, Gloria Rogers of Oceanside, CA and Shirley Hood, of Escondido, CA. He leaves behind cherished family and friends including his Paul’s Pharmacy colleagues, JW and Maria. The Rasmuson family wants to thank the Carrillo family, Carmen “JC”, Lupe, Lucia, Juan and Chuy for their love and support during the final years of Jerry’s life. They made his life more meaningful and comfortable. If desired, contributions can be made to Harrison’s Hope Hospice. A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012, 10:00AM, at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Homedale, ID. A funeral service and burial will take place Wednesday, November 21, 2012, 11:00AM at Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Grandfield, OK. Carolyn Rees, MD

I want you to know how much I appreciated Jerry''s warmth and good humor that brightened the day and took away the fear and frustration of dealing with illness and the health care profession. He was a blessing to the town of Homedale.
