Jerry Dean Syzdek
June 11th, 1969 - August 30th, 2024
Jerry Dean Syzdek, 55, of Mayfield, New York, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024 at home. Jerry was born on June 11, 1969 to the late Daniel and Connie (St. Louis) Syzdek in Amsterdam, where he lived for most of his life. He attended Amsterdam schools, and was a graduate of Amsterdam High School.
After graduating from high school, Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served his country for 20 years, during which time he had been deployed to serve during Operation Desert Storm and the Persian Gulf War. Following his retirement from the Navy, Jerry went on to work as a mechanic for many years in the local area.
Jerry will be remembered by all who knew him for his sense of humor, his wonderful disposition, his passion for his family, and his pride in is country. He was the kind of person who was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed his help, and was an all-around great guy. Jerry will also be remembered for one of his favorite catch phrases in life: "It is what it is."
He leaves behind his loving family, including his soulmate of 13 years, Patricia Stanton; his daughters, Shandi Beth and Cristin Lucy; his step-sons, James and Dillon Stanton; his grandchildren, Jordan, Lucus, Allie, and Logan; his siblings, Joseph (Brenda) Syzdek, Claudia (Peter) Robillard; Daniel Syzdek Jr, and Dayton (Rose) Syzdek; his sister-in-law, Penny St. Louis; as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Aside from his parents, Daniel and Connie, Jerry is also preceded in passing by his brother, Brett St. Louis.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 10:00AM until noon at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. Interment will follow in the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville, New York with full Military Honors.
