Jerry Lee Turner died January 25, 2019 at Wuesthoff Hospice House in Rockledge. 01/28/1932 to 01/25/2019 Born in Gadsden, AL to James H. Turner and Lura Kathleen Turner Family James H. Turner, Jr. and his wife Martha (deceased) Sandra Fee and her husband Tom Fee of Tampa Bobby Turner (deceased) Married Sally Jo Willingham 05/29/1953 Brother in Law Richard T. Willingham and his wife Betty of Wylie, TX Two children - Terry Joe Turner, Cocoa FL and Teresa Turner Rhoads and husband David of Loveland, CO Two nephews, Leland Turner of Atlanta and Sean Osborne of Tampa Neices Vea Lynn Townsend and Dedra Justice of Tampa Cathy Herb, Lisa Lassig and Carol Vey of Atlanta Terri Michelle Thurmond and Tammy Cook of Wylie, TX US Navy – Korean War 1951 to 1953 University of Alabama and Brevard Community College Moved to Florida in 1963 and worked at TWA during the Apollo Program as an Engineer and part of the esteemed High Crew. His co-workers honored him with a plague in the shape of an apple and printed on it the word “Happy” because he was always a “happy apple”. He worked in maintenance at Trinity Towers in Melbourne before his retirement. 32nd Degree Mason Boy Scout Master, Life Rank and Order of the Arrow Member of 1st Baptist Church, Merritt Island, FL since 1988. Sunday School Teacher of 4th and 5th grades. He was a deacon in 3 churches. Volunteer at the House of Hope for many years Member of the Woodcarver’s Association for many years Learned to play the piano at the age of 50 Played the trumpet in the Navy Band, church and community orchestra Jerry was a gifted man in many areas but what set him apart was his humble service to his Lord. He valued his Faith the most followed by Family, Country and many friends and neighbors. He was an outdoorsman who particularly loved being on the ocean. He loved to fish and just being outdoors gardening, growing citrus and other tropical fruits at his home. Jerry built his beautiful home and embellished it with fine craftsman touches throughout. It is truly a work of art from the heart. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, unwavering patriotism and love of country that he fought for in the Korean War as well as his complete devotion to his family friends and neighbors. His love and devotion to his wife Sally is legendary and inspires many of the next generation to be a husband like Jerry. We will miss our Jerry but will also cherish his many life lessons. And, we will see you in heaven soon. The Family will receive friends Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church , Merritt Island where Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM A reception will precede the Funeral and Interment with Naval Military Honors will be at 2:30 PM at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
