Jim Brogden
October 19th, 1941 - March 27th, 2016
JIM BROGDEN Jim was born on October 19, 1941 in Bakersfield, California, the third child of Theo (John) and Rachel Brogden. He was raised in Southern California and attended La Puente High school where he met and married Patti Willis. They brought three children into the world, Lance Brogden, John Brogden, and Jaimie Wahlberg. He was also a proud grandfather to Mikayla Ann Wahlberg, Tyler Brogden, Chloe Brogden, and Bobby Mac Wahlberg. He worked most of his life as an underground contractor, primarily as co-owner of J & J Construction with his father John. In addition he owned a business transporting prisoners using his airplanes, owned a feed store, then worked for Cal Farm insurance in Corning, Ca. When asked what his career was, he loved to say, "I'm an entrepreneur!" He was passionate about cars (He owned a 32 Ford Coupe and a 14 Ford T Bucket), airplanes, western style dancing (Western Lights anyone?), and hunting (both big game and bird). Late in his life, he became a golfer at Butte Creek Country Club. He did score a hole in one on hole #6! He also enjoyed traveling with his partner Darlene Paise. They traveled to China, the British Isles, Panama, Alaska, and Europe. He is survived by his brothers Tom of Paradise and Randy of Hebron, North Dakota, and his sister Bonnie Hill of Wellton, Arizona. Celebration of life will occur on Thursday, April 7th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Butte Creek Country Club. The family is requesting a donation be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Chico in lieu of any flowers.
