Jim Dawson

Harley James “Jim” Dawson, age 75, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 13, 2012. Jim was born May 23, 1937, in Nampa, Idaho to Pete and Lavina Dawson. He attended Nampa schools, graduating from Nampa High School in 1955 and entered the U.S. Navy. Post discharge, Jim married Colleen Reed the love of his life in July 1959 and they enjoyed 48 inseparable years together. He was a graduate of the College of Idaho. Jim lived in the Weiser area for many years and eventually relocated to Caldwell where he continued his career as a real estate appraiser. He started, managed and mentored numerous businesses throughout the valley. Jim was a devout Christian, and never met a stranger. He attended Grace Lutheran Church in Caldwell, and participated in numerous volunteer activities in the church, community, and with friends. Always quick with a story and a helping hand, he was also an accomplished woodworker and talented craftsman. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Colleen, and is survived by sons Michael and Darin; granddaughter Lesley; brother Gary Dawson of Boise, Idaho; and sister Linda Cooley of Missouri. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Memorial services for Jim Dawson will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church, 2700 South Kimball Ave, Caldwell, Idaho, Pastor Edward Brandt presiding.
