Online Obituaries for Lexington, KY Lewis, James Preston Affectionately know as Mondo or Sarge. Jim passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, his wife holding his hand and Willie Nelson music in his ear. He was born in Berea, Kentucky, the son of Chester Lewis and Violet Grant, both deceased. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janice Southworth Lewis, three sons, Jim (Tammy), Ron (Dawn Harrington) and Michael (Kristle Shelton), five grandchildren, Amanda, Leigh Ann, Steven (Alyssa the Awesome), Anna and Conner, and four great grandchildren, Rileigh, Bryce and twins, Reese and Ava. He is also survived by two special ladies, Loyda and Lynne. He retired from IBM in 1990 after 32 years. He loved playing pool and was a member of the local ACS pool league, traveling to Las Vegas several times to play in tournaments. When it became impossible to play pool, he joined a group to play Euchre and was able to play up until a few short weeks ago. He was amazed by the outpouring of love from friends during his illness and wanted everyone to know what a wonderful life he had and they should celebrate that. Funeral Information He planned his own Celebration of Life and plans have been made at Clark Legacy in Brannon Crossing for Monday June 20, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
