Jimmie Lee Tolbert, age 89, of Sun City Center, Florida was promoted to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Tampa. He was born on September 8, 1932 in Jacksonville, Alabama, the son of Joseph and Ellie Tolbert, who preceded him in death. Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Barbara, his sons Robert (Constance) and Keith (Barb), his daughter Deborah (Bill) Frazier, grandchildren Lee, Christina (Michael) Hixson, Wyatt, Ellie, Eden Frazier, and Gunner, great grandchildren Luella, Flanagan Hixson, Maggie Cate Hixson, siblings Louis (Doretta), Janice Caudill, and Dewell (Linda) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard and JD, and sisters, Relzie, Inez, Alice, and Rena. Jimmie served his country in the US Army in the 82nd Airborne Division. He later answered the call to preach and faithfully ministered for over 60 years, pastoring Free Will Baptist churches in Michigan, Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, and Florida. He was an avid runner and competed in the Senior Olympics where he received over 100 medals in track and field. He was also a fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football and loved to cheer his team on every Saturday in the fall. Funeral services will be held at the First Free Will Baptist Church of Tampa, 11605 E, US-92, Seffner, FL 33584 on Friday, July 22, 2022. Visitation will be from 11:30-1:00, service to follow at 1:00PM. Dr. Will Beauchamp and Rev. Roger Duncan will be officiating. Interment will be at the Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Free Will Baptist Children’s Home in Greeneville, Tennessee.
