Jimmy Wayne Clifton
July 8th, 1948 - January 11th, 2020
On Saturday, January 11, 2020, Jimmy Wayne Clifton, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 71, in St. Petersburg, FL. Jimmy was born on July 8, 1948 in Lawrenceburg, TN to James and Edith (Judkins) Clifton. Jimmy graduated from Lawrenceburg High School. He then proceeded to join the U.S. Navy. Jimmy was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He spent his career with the Social Security Administration and American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE). On April 7, 1982 he married Janice Marie Clifton. They raised a son, Justin and a daughter, Julie. Jimmy loved his coffee in the morning and spending time with his friends at the Waffle House. He never went anyplace without his best friend, Rascal. Rascal and Jimmy were inseparable and loved each other very much. Jimmy always had a way of telling jokes and stories that would keep you laughing for hours, long after he left. He was a mentor to many people and always had an open ear to listen to anything you had to say. He was known for his infectious smile, kind and compassionate spirit, and of course his love/hate relationship with CNN. His wonderful personality will be remembered by all who knew him. Jimmy was preceded in death by his father James, and his mother Edith. He is survived by his wife Janice, his two children, Justin and Julie, his two brothers Carl and Ray, his sister Jean, and his three grandchildren, Samuel, Benjamin and Nathan. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, January 19th at 10:00am at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK Street North, St Petersburg.
