Jimmy Alvin Epperson
December 13th, 1937 - January 31st, 2016
Jimmy Alvin Epperson, age 78, of Church Hill, passed away on January 31, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport after a period of declining health. He was born on December 13, 1937 and lived in the Ross Camp Ground Community his entire life. After graduation from Church Hill High School, he attended the University of Tennessee for one year. He was employed by Eastman Chemical Company, where he went through the apprentice program and worked as an electrician, primarily in the electronic maintenance department for 16 years. He left Eastman to open his own company, Epperson Communications, where he built his business through hard work, honesty and integrity. Mr. Epperson professed his faith in Christ and testified his Christian walk through his daily life. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Annie Epperson; brothers, Joe, George and Billy Epperson; sisters-in-law, Helen Epperson, Bobbie Epperson and Nancy Jeter; and nephew, Lynn Epperson. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lois Jeter Epperson; their daughters, Suzanne Ferrell and husband, Wally, Elaine Hillman and husband, Randall, and Betsy Culler; grandchildren, Daniel Musser and wife, Elena, Rebekah Chastain and husband, Heath, and Aaron Hillman and fiancé, Sara Kimmel; great-grandson, William Chastain; sisters-in-law, Hazel Epperson, Mary Carol Jeter, Ruby Nell Jeter and Evaline Jessee and husband, Ernest; brother-in-law, Daniel C. Jeter; several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the Ross Camp Ground Cemetery Fund (Janie Kincheloe, 107 Ivy Lane, Gray, TN 37615) or Oak Grove Baptist Church (311 Cypress St, Mt. Carmel, TN 37645). The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 pm with Dr. Randy Presnell and Bro. Neal Lane officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday at Ross Camp Ground Cemetery. Pallbearers serving the family will be: Melvin Barbour, Daniel Byrd, Randall Hillman, Wally Ferrell, Aaron Hillman, Heath Chastain, Steve Epperson and Ronnie Epperson. Honorary pallbearers serving the family will be: Keith Smith, Daniel Jeter and Bill Sexton. Carter-Trent Funeral home in Church Hill is proudly serving the Epperson family.
