Jimmy Lee Hunt, 76, of Charlotte, passed away August 22, 2014 after a long illness. Born December 3, 1937 to the late Cleveland and Macie Oxindine Hunt in Fairmont, NC, Mr. Hunt was proud of his Lumbee Indian heritage. He served his country in the USArmy during the Korean War. Jimmy always said he traveled the world to find the love of his life and then found her right in his own hometown. He married Barbara Jean Brayboy of Robeson County, NC and they had two sons, Kenneth and Bernard. Devoted to his family, he was a good provider, teaching his sons to follow in his footsteps. Early on they lived in Nashville, TN where he learned the welding trade. In the mid-1960's, he moved his family to Charlotte where he was employed in the construction industry as a welder. Cooking and music gave him great enjoyment, but his true passions were his family and his church. Survived by his two sons and their wives, Ruth and Tracy, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two sisters and four brothers, Jimmy will be greatly missed. Jimmy's favorite scripture verse was "Delight yourself also in the LORD:and he shall give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4

Our chapel, a cherished historic landmark within the storied Dilworth neighborhood, is renowned for being the only funeral home in Charlotte graced with its own chapel, echoing with decades of history and serenity....
