Jimmy Joseph Lecce
September 5th, 1929 - September 3rd, 2017
Jimmy Joseph Lecce passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren. Jimmy was born in Martinez, California and came to Monterey when he was 9 years old. He grew up in Monterey and at a young age began working as a mechanic. He fished many years in Alaska. Most of his career was spent as a plumber, working for companies including Nichols Plumbing and Heating. He met and married his beautiful wife, Marie Strazzulla in Monterey and together they had four children. He built his house himself in 1959 and resided there the last 63 years of his life. Jimmy enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards, being out in the sun and listening to the oldies on his radio. He loved working around his house, taking many trips to Calistoga, meeting his friends for coffee in the mornings and talking about his fishing adventures in Alaska and Monterey. He enjoyed his tennis matches and played until he was 84 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, his parents, Antonio Lecce, and Eva Sansone and stepfather, Pete Sansone, son, Tony and granddaughter, MaryAnn Tringali. Jimmy is survived by his children, EvaMarie Tringali (Anthony), JoAnn Donangelo (Mike), Janet Bruno (Paul), and daughter-in-law Erica (Tony). He is also survived by his brother Peter Lecce, sisters, Hope Cappuccio and Mary Hocut (Frank). Jimmy leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Philip (Jenn) and Jennifer Tringali, Frank (Gina), Jimmy, Matthew, and Marie Donangelo, Antonio, Ryan and Paul Rappa, Vincent and Roman Lecce and 5 great-grandchildren, A.J., Brooklynn, and Tyler Tringali, Joseph and Olivia Donangelo. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to: San Carlos Cathedral or Hospice of the Central Coast, 2 Upper Ragsdale, D-120, Monterey, CA. 93940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 10:00am at San Carlos Cathedral, 500 Church St., Monterey followed by burial at San Carlos Cemetery. The Family would like to express their gratitude, love and special thank you to his caregiver, Kenny Linares and friend Diana Pavoloff for the extraordinary care and comfort they provided and to Paulette Walker who loved and supported him for many years.
