Jo Ann "Jodie" Wood Dawson

JoAnn Wood Dawson "Jodie", 84, of St. Petersburg passed away November 18, 2018 at Fidelia Eckerd Living Center in Highlands, North Carolina after a 10 year battle with Alzheimer’s, surrounded by her family as her husband Peter held her hand. Born in Cumberland, MD, she graduated from Ursuline Academy in Cumberland, and West Liberty College in West Virginia. She moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1955 where she met the love of her life “Peter”. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mac Wood, several aunts and uncles including her beloved Aunt Bess. Jodie is survived by her son Mark (Christine), daughters Anne, Kelly (Bill), and Cary; grandchildren, Shannon, Ryan, Raleigh, Parker, Casey, Bailey, Hayden, and Lawton. Jodie was a very independent, resourceful, and loving individual. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and encouraged others to do the same. She loved her family, her church, bible studies, music, sailing, tennis, and gardening. Her beautiful smile and charming spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Visitation service will be Monday, December 10, 2018 at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Jodie’s Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at NE Presbyterian Church at 1:00pm.
