Jo Ann Cast Furlong

Jo Ann Cast Furlong, 62, of Bleecker passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015. Born September 11, 1952 in Amsterdam, she was a daughter of Eleanor Cast and the late Donald M. Cast. Jo Ann lived in Mayfield and moved to Bleecker in 1984 with her husband John F. Furlong. She graduated from Mayfield High School in 1971. Jo Ann worked at Coleco Industries in Mayfield for many years. For the last several years she was a much loved home health care giver working for Visiting Nurses in Fulton County. She loved her many dogs over the years, enjoyed bingo, needlework, canning her home grown vegetables and was an avid hockey fan. Jo Ann was also a dedicated member of the Gloversville Sports Club Women's Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband John F. Furlong; mother Eleanor Cast; sisters Nancy Washburn (Richard) and Diane Cast (Tony Mackey). She is also survived by her aunt and uncle Ruth and Richard Cast who she cared for very much. Jo Ann is predeceased by her brother Donald M. Cast, Jr. A memorial service to celebrate Jo Ann's life will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2015 10 A.M. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville with Rev. Dr. RW Williams officiating. Burial will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Northville at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Jo Ann's memory may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
