Jo Kiker Dixon
May 29th, 1934 - June 3rd, 2009
Mrs. Jo Ann Kiker Dixon, 75, received the ultimate healing on June 3rd, when she went to be with her Lord after fighting a courageous battle with breast cancer. Jo Ann was born May 29, 1934 in Charlotte, where she lived her entire life. She graduated from West Mecklenburg High School and married Jerry Randolph Dixon. Her family was a top priority for her and she loved spending time with them. She lovingly opened her home to her mother and cared for her for 20 years. She and Jerry celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary last week. Jo Ann received Christ as a young child and served Him with gladness. The joy of the Lord was her strength and was evident on her face, in her words and actions. She was often heard exclaiming ?Praise God!? with a smile on her face and a sincere heart as she gave Him glory in all things. Jo Ann never met a stranger and was loved where ever she went. She helped others sacrificially and was quick to offer encouragement to those around her. She had the gift of hospitality and faithfully ministered in that area at church for many years. She was known as an excellent cook and continually blessed others by opening her home for holiday meals or home cooked dinners. Many of Jo Ann?s favorite recipes were recently published in a cookbook, where her love for preparing a delicious meal or her famous cakes can continue on through the lives she has inspired. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Randolph Dixon; her children Randy and wife Tammy, Bobby, and Julie, all of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Kara, Michael, Candace Dixon and Corine, Holly and Dusty Lovelace; and three great grandchildren, all of Charlotte. Funeral Arrangements are being handled by Hankins and Whittington 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte. Visitation on Sunday, June 7 from 5 until 7 pm and the funeral will be Monday, June 8th at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Mercy Ministries, PO Box 111060, Nashville, TN 37222-1060.

The growth of our service and the community's support led to our move in March 1963 to the current location—once St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, built in 1930. Our chapel, a cherished historic landmark within the storied Dilworth neighborhood, is renowned for being the only funeral home in Charlotte graced with its own chapel, echoing with decades of history and serenity....
