Joan Mary Dufort

Mrs. Joan M. Dufort, 86, of St. Petersburg, formerly of St. Pete Beach, passed away February 25, 2008. She was born in Shirley, Massachusetts in 1921 and came to Florida in the 1970's. She lived in St. Pete Beach , Florida and was the cashier at the Corey Avenue five & dime store for many years. She returned to Florida as a permanent resident in 2002 from Leominster, Massachusetts. She was Catholic and was a member of St. Jude's Cathedral in St. Petersburg and a former member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in St. Pete Beach. Florida. Joan enjoyed crossword puzzles, country western music and watching her favorite soap operas. Survivors include her three children; Don Dufort and Sheila Dufort, both of St. Petersburg and Judy (Lenny) Stratton of Spring Hill, Florida; two sisters; Jeri Cannon of Williamsburg, Virginia and Ginger Peterson of San Jose, California; six grandchildren, Melissa Dufort of Gardner, Massachusetts, Kyle Dufort of Westminster, Massachusetts, Saun Dufort of Tampa, Florida, Erica Wolfersder of Leominster, Massachusetts. and Brandy and Jessey Dufort, both of St. Petersburg, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Scotty and Christian Wolfersder, and Connor Arsenault, all of Leominster, Massachusetts. Mrs. Dufort was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph; her son, Dennis Dufort and her daughter, Eva Mahar. Per the family's request, private services were held. David C.
