Joan Marie Giusti Joan was born on March 24, 1933 in Garden City, Kansas, the only child of Daniel and Lena Scheuerman. She was surrounded by her family in Tacoma on her heavenly birthday, March 5, 2017. Dr. Salvatore A. Giusti, a Tacoma dentist, proceeded her in death. Joan, a veteran of the US Navy, met her husband, Sal, while serving our country. She studied art at Washington State University and was a talented water colorist. Over her 83 years, Joan is best remembered for her love of her family, a devoted wife and mother, raising her 5 children and tending the livestock and property of the family ranch affectionately known as Willow Creek Ranch. Her other passions included art, rose gardening and animals of all shapes and sizes. Joan spent many years of volunteer service at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic church, and as a docent at both the Tacoma Art Museum and Lakewold Gardens. A Catholic mass celebrating her life will be held on Friday, March 17 at 3:30pm at St. Francis Cabrini in Lakewood, with a reception immediately following at the Wagner House at Lakewold Gardens. To honor Joan, memorial gifts can be sent to Wounded Warriors or Fisher House.
