June 22, 1936 - January 14, 2022 Our beloved and loving wife, mother and friend, Joan Elizabeth Knorr, 85 years old, of Yuba City passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022, at home with her family. Joan was born on June 22, 1936, in Tacoma, Washington. Times were tough for Joan's parents when she was growing up. Regardless, her dad built a small barn and got her a horse she named Sparky that she loved and rode all the time. She met her husband, James (Jim) Knorr as they were both undergraduate students attending Pacific Lutheran College in Tacoma, WA. Joan received her Bachelors of Science degree and completed her medical technician training. She supported Jim through medical school at the University of Washington working as a medical technician. After graduation, Joan, Jim and baby Chris moved to Staten Island, New York for 6 years while Jim completed his medical school internship and residency, she continued work as a medical technician. After two more children, Mike and Cynthia, the family was complete and Joan stopped working in the medical field for a time. Then the family moved to Yuba City in 1970. She was a loving, caring wife and mother. She later became a certified LVN and worked at the Fountains in Yuba City for 10 years, working into her 70's. Joan was known for her compassion, hard work and gentle spirit. She was a gifted violinist and enjoyed playing in the Yuba Sutter Orchestra for years, especially the Christmas concerts featuring Handel's Messiah. Ever conscientious of performing her best, she was known to be practicing past 2:00 AM. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Irene Septon. Survivors include her husband, Jim Knorr, her children, Chris Knorr, Mike Knorr and Cynthia (Knorr) Berthold (Brian), grandchildren, Jackson and Sierra Berthold, and Sadie Fox, brother-in-law; Bill Knorr, nieces, Julie (Knorr) Allen and Susan (Knorr) Denton and nephew, Bruce Knorr.
