Arrangements are under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home. Mom was born March 17, 1938 to Norman and Betty Dean. She had an older brother Jimmy and a younger brother Rick. Their loving family began on the ranch in Grangeville, Idaho. In 1955, her parents built a beautiful home in Grangeville on Park Street. Mom was a graduate of Grangeville High in 1956. In 1957, she was honored to be Border Days Queen. She attended the University of Idaho where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Joanie then was a stewardess for 2 years for West Coast Airlines. Mom then became a loving and devoted mother to her 3 children. She was always involved in their lives. Mom's working career began in the mid 90's. She became an executive assistant. A new and exciting life had opened up for her. She was always willing to take the risk of moving somewhere new and loved and appreciated the many opportunities presented to her. Thank you John Baldwin. Mom was an avid horseback rider, golfer, skier, and even loved the adventures of snowmobile and motorcycle riding. She had a spunky zest for life. Her circle of friends are many and always room for more. She laughed, shopped and had lunch with her friends and family, always holding them close. Mom's greatest gifts are her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always wanted to know what each of them were doing in great detail. She was so proud of their accomplishments and aspirations. Mom was a warrior. She fought the cancer numerous times since 1995. But, even through her battles, she was always a lady. Her life was beautiful and well lived. Joanie went to be with her Savior peacefully at home with her son and daughter by her side. She is survived by her 2 children Sondra Cornell Grimmett and Bradley Dean Parker. Grandchildren, Clayton Wayne Hawks, Stacy Rae Smith, Chase Dean Parker, Raymon Wayne Cornell and Danial Joseph Cornell. Great grandchildren Cody, Payton, Ryleigh, Teigan and many more. Rost Funeral Home
As the only funeral home in Elmore County, the staff at Rost Funeral Home work hard to be active members of the Mountain Home community and to be there to take care of families in every way possible when the need arises. Our funeral home opened in 2005 when Jerry and Janette Rost purchased the business. We’ve continued to grow along with Mountain Home. Jerry’s career began more than fifty years ago in Boise, and along the way, he acquired an 1897 horse-drawn funeral carriage, which we proudly display in our facility....
