A celebration of life for JoAnn Hall, 85; a resident of Chico for 54 years will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Reception to follow at the Chico Masonic Family Center. JoAnn passed away peacefully, following a short illness on October 29, 2023 in Hughson, CA near her home in Modesto for the past 3 ½ years. In her 85 years JoAnn was a wife, mother, nana, sister, daughter, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Errol Hall in 2016. They were married for 59 years and raised their family in Chico. She is survived by her loving daughters, Jana Hall (Dave Voelker) and Kim Hall Rhoades (John Rhoades), grandchildren John Ackerman (Kore Richard), Matthew Rhoades (Stephanie Rhoades) and Alyssa Rhoades (Matt Graves). JoAnn was born in a log cabin on July 6, 1938 in Paradise, CA to Lena and Charles Wilson. She graduated from Anderson High School and California State University, Chico in 1984, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Community Service, Cum Laude. She worked for the Butte County Victim-Witness Assistance Center, Butte County Superior Courthouse and as a Probation Officer for Butte County, in the Paradise and Oroville offices. JoAnn was involved for many years with the Portuguese Club, where she served as secretary and treasurer. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting, crocheting and knitting, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
