JoAnn Hamblen
April 15th, 1935 - October 31st, 2012
JoAnn Hamblen, 77, of Salinas, passed away on October 31, 2012 after a brief illness. She was born on April 15, 1935 in Ozark, Arkansas. JoAnn moved with her family to California in 1946, settling in Salinas. She attended Salinas Union High School where she graduated in 1954, and also attended Hartnell College. JoAnn went on to work for Bank of America for 35 years. JoAnn was a kind and loving person who always put others needs ahead of her own. She cherished her church family at Cypress Community Church and was very involved in the life of the church. She enjoyed attending plays in San Francisco with friends, shopping and especially traveling to Japan to visit her sister. Most of all, JoAnn adored spending time with her family and never missed a family celebration. She will be missed here, but the family finds comfort knowing that she will have Eternal Life. JoAnn is survived by her sisters, Margaret Crawford of Japan Phyllis (Manuel) Cardoza of Pacific Grove brother, Bob (Diana) Hamblen of Salinas sister-in-law, Connie Hamblen of Salinas along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she considered her own children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Bessie Hamblen brothers, Bill and Ben Hamblen. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2012 1-5pm at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, November 5, 2012 11am at the Healey Mortuary Chapel. Burial to follow services at the Garden of Memories Cemetery 850 Abbott St. Salinas, CA 93901.

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
