Joanne Helen Smith, 71, passed away on August 19 2019. Joanne was born April 15, 1948 to Harry and Helen Pappas in Chicago, IL. Joanne is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Ricky Smith. She is survived by her son, James (Laura) Smith; grandchildren, Isabelle and Elisabeth Smith of Ladson, SC; and brother, John Pappas of Homestead Ill. Joanne loved being a grandma, and adored her grandchildren. She was full of life and happiness. A visitation will take place Friday, August 23, 2019 from 9:00 – 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Columbia, SC (1900 Main St., Columbia, SC 29201). The funeral service will begin at 10:00AM, with burial to follow at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery (4170 Percival Rd., Columbia, SC 29229), where she will be laid to rest by her late husband. Flower arrangements may be sent to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
