Joe Decker
December 14th, 1950 - August 29th, 2022
Joe Decker, age 71, died after a lengthy illness in Gridley, California on August 29, 2022. Joe was born December 14, 1950 in Dillon, Montana, to Wayne and Margaret Decker, and spent his youth in nearby Melrose. He joined the United States Navy after high school serving from 1969 to 1973. Joe married Rosalie Wehler in 1976, and together they had three children. The family followed employment opportunities from Conrad, Montana, to St. Martinville, Louisiana to Colstrip, Montana, and eventually to Colusa, California where Joe worked as a power plant maintenance mechanic for 25 years. Joe was well known for his sense of humor, remarkable work ethic, long stories, and love for his family. Throughout his illness, Joe was surrounded by those who cared for him, and in that care, Grace was both given and received. His children and family are extremely grateful to Ullrey Funeral Home, Sutter Hospice, and especially to everyone at Gridley Post Acute (Hovlid). To honor Joe, his family asks that you share a little family history with your children, hug them tight - really tight ( he was quite strong), and tell them that you love them. Joe is survived by his children, Jarrod (Sam), Jolie McGrath (Jon), Gideon (Sonja), and LaSahnna Morales-Nimpfer; sisters, Jonnie Jennings, Toni Helmer; his brothers, Buck, Dennis, and Scott; and his grandchildren, Adah, Luke, Joy, Edie, Magnolia, Tyler, Savannah, and Michael. Wisdom 3:2-3. They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead; and their passing away an affliction and their going away from us, utter destruction. But they are in Peace. Family will be honoring him privately.
