Joe Montoya

Joe F. Montoya, 85, Born on Oct. 24th, 1934 in Monte Aplanado, New Mexico, Passed away on May 25th, 2020 in Wheat Ridge Colorado. Due to a lengthy illness. He is survived by his lovely wife Casildita, 7 Sons. Russell & wife Louann of Denver, Colo. Antonio of Arvada, Colo, Joseph & wife Shirley of Thornton, Colo. Sam & late wife Trisha of Monte Aplanado, NM, Ronnie & wife Maria of Monte Aplanado, NM, Michael, Geno of Arvada. Proceeded by his Mother Piedad Serna and Father Reynaldo Montoya of Monte Aplanado, NM Survived by 6 grandchildren (Russell Jr, Joey, Jolina, Sierra, Sam Jr, Robert) and 4 great grandchildren (Avelera, Amya, Matthew, Thea), Brother Leo & Felicia of Green River, Wyo. and his Late sisters Rosa Ramos & Mela Martinez; Numerous nieces & nephews, cousins and friends. Joe was born & raised in Monte Aplanado, NM. In his teenage years he helped raised his nephew Nio and then went to Wyoming to work in the Railroad (U/P) In 1958 he married his beautiful wife Casildita in Mora, NM and took her to Wyoming and then moved to Colorado Springs, Colo. Worked various jobs and then moved back to Monte Aplanado, NM and raised 4 sons (Russell, Antonio, Sam, Joe) while working/doing Mechanical & Construction work. In 1969 they moved to Denver, Colo and had 3 more sons (Ronnie, Michael, Geno) working in a Meat packing Company as a butcher and retired in 1988. Joe then moved back to Monte Aplanado with his wife and son Geno. Joe enjoyed the high mountains, taking long walks and riding and tending to his horses. Adventuring out to the Casinos when had the chance, oh how he enjoyed the slot machines ringing. Most of all he loved his family and friends and was at peace when walking around the lakes in Arvada, Colo and long Mountain walks in Monte Aplanado, NM Burial to be on June 13th, 2020 at 11:30 am at the Montoya’s cemetery in La Canada, NM (North of Santo Nino).
