Joe W. Norsworthy

Obituary Norsworthy, Joe W., 82, husband of Ileana Mullis Norsworthy, son of the late Will and Lola Norsworthy passed away on July 31, 2013. Joe was born on November 19, 1930 in Benton Kentucky. He was a resident of Nicholasville, KY and enjoyed his retirement at his home in Lakeland, FL. Joe was a representative of the United Auto Workers Union for more than 39 years. In 1989 Joe received the Banaham Award for Outstanding Democrat in Fayette County. After retiring from the UAW Joe was appointed Secretary of Labor, for the state of Kentucky, by then Governor Paul Patton in December 1995 and served for eight years in that position. The Western Kentucky Area Council AFL-CIO honored Joe in 2003 with its highest award, the W.C. Young Award. Joe was a member of the Hardin-Berkley Masonic Lodge #567, Southland Christian Church and was also a Kentucky Colonel. Joe is survived by his children - Gary (Debbie) Norsworthy, Greg (Leslye) Norsworthy, Gail (Dan) Chapman, Greta (Jeff) Boling, Pam (Perry) Sutton, Ron (Mary) Mullis and was "Pops" to 13 grandchildren 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 3 sisters and a daughter in law. Funeral Information Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, August 5th at Clark Legacy Center - Brannon Crossing with entombment in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.
