Joe Wendell Peacock, 72, passed away on Monday August 20, 2012, in the GA War Veterans Home in Milledgeville. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday in the Southside Baptist Church of Kathleen. Burial will be private. Mr. Peacock was born in Rhine, GA. He was the son of the late Ivy and Willie Hammock Peacock. He was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force and Marines having served in the Vietnam conflict. After serving in the military, he worked and retired from the National Parks Services on Cumberland Island. Mr. Peacock was a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cordele. Survivors include his wife Merry Shugart Peacock of Vienna, children Joe E. Billie Peacock, Jimmy Trina Peacock, Jennifer Hill all of Warner Robins, step children Karen David Carroll of Byron, Mike Lynn Bivins of Vienna, 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
