Memorial

Joe passed away peacefully this morning, living a very long life, almost 102 years! Joe was born to Isaac and Mary Templeton in Lampasas, TX. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1941 and was honorably discharged in 1945 with rank of Staff Sargent. Joe worked for Lockheed Martin in California for many years. Retirement from Lockheed took him to Costa Rica for a short time. He also worked as a Librarian. Joe was self-taught and a very intelligent person. Although Joe did not marry or have any children, he thoroughly enjoyed his friends at the Bayshore Windmill Village, where he lived for many years. At age 99, he moved to the Woodlands Village Retirement Center and was cared for by the wonderful staff that loved him, and he enjoyed the many friends there, until his death. Joe was so loved by his family. They did not get to see him very much, but when they did it was a very special time. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister - Louise Templeton Andrews, and brothers – Warren, Lewis, Byron, and Lee Roy. Survivors include his sister-in-law, JoAnn Templeton and 6 nieces and nephews, and many other family members. Many thanks to the sweet caretakers at the Woodlands Village Retirement Center and the Tidewell Hospice House for their sweet care of Joe in his last days. There will be a short service at the Griffith-Cline Funeral Home chapel at 720 Manatee Avenue West in Bradenton, Florida. The Date and Time will be announced later (probably Tuesday 8/17 or Wednesday 8/18). After the service, Joe will be interred at the Sarasota National Cemetery with full military honors. Fun fact, from nephew Joe Bob Andrews, about Joe Templeton – he could do a backflip! For Date and Time, please call Griffith-Cline Funeral Home at 941-748-1011
