Joel "Yussel David Ben Hershel" David Markowitz
October 19th, 1938 - January 6th, 2012
Joel David Markowitz, age 73, of North Las Vegas, died Friday, January 6, 2012. Joel was born October 19, 1938 in Brooklyn NY to the late Harry S and the late Jennie (Machowsky) Markowitz. Joel was a wedding photographer who loved to fish, travel, cook and watch all genres of movies. He also played guitar and sang. Joel played Tevye in a community theater production in New York. He was a member of the Royal Order of Odd Fellows. Joel is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sydelle Markowitz; children Beth (Gregory) Pitka of Lake Ronkonkoma NY, Warren (Jacqueline) Markowitz of Las Vegas and Mitchell (Jessica) Markowitz of Holloman AFB NM; grandchildren Morgan, Haley, Zachary, Abigail, Hannah, Logan, Mason and Alyssa; and brother Alan (Francine) Markowitz of Coconut Creek FL. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas, NV 89147. Contributions in Joel's memory may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital.
