Joel Stafford was born on November 7, 1949, to LT and Hazel Stafford in Levelland, Texas.  Joel passed away at Collier Hospice Center on Friday September 13, 2024 with his wife Delia by his side. 

Joel Moved to Colorado with his family in 1955.  

Joel graduated from Arvada High School in 1967 and attended University of Colorado Boulder. 

Joel served in the US Army in Vietnam 1970.  In 1973 he met his wife Delia Pinkerton and in 1976 they were married.  

Joel retired from Rocky Flats in 2000.  He was a talented writer and graphic artist.  He loved his many dogs over the years. 

Joel had a wicked sense of humor and loved practical jokes.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  

He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife Delia, his sister Brenda (Bud) Simpson, brother Kevin (Suzy) Stafford, sister Marlinda (Rick) Leeper, and many nieces and nephews, and cousins. 

No services will be held at this time.  If desired contributions may be made in his name to Friends of Foothills Animal Shelter, 500 McIntyre St, Golden, Colorado 80401 or a charity of your choice.

I am proud to say that Joel Stafford was my friend. We knew each other for almost 40 years. We shared a lot of things include a passionate love of CU football and intense discussion on a wide range of subjects.
