Joginder Kaur Singh

Joginder Kaur Singh, age 93, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2013 surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was born in India on February 3, 1920, and was treated like a true princess because she was the only daughter in her family. She was cherished by her family and then, upon her marriage to Kartar Singh, he continued to treat her with equal love and attention for over 75 years. She was blessed with three sons, Sukhdev Singh Bains, Davinder Singh Bains, and Baldev Singh Bains and one daughter, Mohan Kaur Thiara. She was fortunate to have 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. What we will all miss most about her are her stories about India and especially her love to cook makki de roti with spicy saag. We will fondly remember how she cared for her cows as part of the family and wouldn't leave India in the fear that they would not be taken care of in her absence. She lived in the United States off and on for over 15 years. Her life spanned such huge changes in the world, from spinning cotton by hand during her childhood to the wonders of modern life. We will all miss our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother, but no one will miss her more than her loving husband, Kartar. After her death, he stated that "four wheels are needed on a vehicle ... when one wheel breaks off, the vehicle is useless ... that is how I am now without her". Joginder was preceded in death by her beloved son, Davinder Singh Bains. Services will be held Tuesday, Dec 24, 2013 at 10:00 am at Ullrey Memorial Chapel. .
