Obituary John Bell “Abbott” Abbott December 14, 1976 ~ July 26, 2019 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John, our loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson, godfather, friend. John slipped into eternal rest on July 26, while in the care of Tucson Medical Center Hospice, Peppi’s House, in Tucson, Arizona He was the son of Robert P. Abbott and Barbara L. Hall Abbott, of Double Adobe. Born in Alpine, Texas his family moved to Casa Grande, Phoenix, Tolleson, Douglas and eventually settled in Double Adobe, Arizona. He attended the Double Adobe Elementary school in McNeal, until he reached high school, where he attended Douglas High School-class of 1995. He had a variety of careers during his young life; Club bouncer, bartender, insurance underwriter, youth mentor with Phoenix Pride LGBT Center, an avid supporter of The Ryan White Foundation and Bisbee Pride. John loved life, his dogs, loved to cook and bake, reading, music, scary movies, Mexican food, sleepovers with his girls. He loved his family, blood or not. He was a friend to anyone he met. He was loving, thoughtful and deeply caring. A fun time was always spent with John, talking and laughing until all hours of the night. Beloved son of Barbara L. Hall Abbott, brother of Kathleen (Robert) Brightwell, uncle of Sharleen and Delaney Brightwell, godfather of Peyton and Leah Gonzalez, nephew of Robert, Clint, David, Doris and Becky Hall. Destined to be best friends, from the moment they met at 10 years old, Tammy (Huish) Gonzalez and John were inseparable. Tammy cared for John the last year of his life, with him until the end. Preceded in death by his grandparents, V.T and Mary Abbott and Horace and Bessie Hall, his father Robert “Bob” P. Abbott, brother Worth Annunziato and niece Emily Brightwell. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Tucson Medical Center, Sophia at Villa Maria Rehab Center and especially Gayle, Rebecca, Nicole and Grace at Tucson Medical Center Hospice, Peppi’s House for their excellent care of John, the last week of his life, Oasis Cremation and Funeral Care for handling his arrangements. Flowers or donations can be sent to Tucson Medical Center Hospice, Peppi’s House, in Memory of John B. Abbott.
