John Robert Alexander
October 18th, 1962 - September 4th, 2023
John Robert Alexander of Nyssa, Oregon, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2023 in Boise, Idaho. John was born on October 18, 1962 in Nyssa to Harold David and Jean Alexander. John grew up on the family farm outside of Nyssa and spent his younger life outdoors. He attended Nyssa schools and graduated from Nyssa High School in 1981. He attended one year of college at Northwest Nazarene College. He spent the majority of his working years in agriculture and driving trucks. He spent some time working in Arizona and Nevada until his health declined and he moved back home. Having severe diabetes, John suffered from multiple health problems. He received dialysis at Davita in Ontario, Oregon for years. He resided at Wellsprings Assisted Living for a number of years and made many friends there and enjoyed playing Farkle, Bingo, and other games with the other residents. He was a member of the Nyssa Church of the Nazarene. When he was healthy, he liked to fish and hunt. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nephews Cameron and Carston. He also enjoyed watching baseball and football and was a fan of the Seattle teams. Preceding John in death were his parents, Harold David and Jean Alexander. He is survived by his three sisters, Debra Alexander of Nyssa, Oregon, Linda Alexander of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Jan Harrell (David) of Boise, Idaho, his nephews Steffan Alexander, Cameron Harrell, and Carston Harrell, and great-nephews Anthony, Brantley, and Brody. A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M., October 21, 2023 at Nyssa Hilltop Cemetary followed by a time of sharing memories and a potluck dinner at the Nyssa Church of the Nazarene Manley Fellowship Hall. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the many people involved over the years in John's care including Wellsprings Assisted Living facility, Davita, Dr. Nicolas Hunt, and the staff at St. Alphonsus hospitals in Ontario, Oregon and Boise, Idaho.

Our story begins in 1907 when the Peterson family, who owned a furniture store in Ontario, helped with funeral arrangements and sold caskets from the store’s basement. Over the years, the business has grown and had a number of owners, partnerships and names.
