John Granvil Bates

John Granvil Bates passed away on February 23rd, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona. John was born on July 11th, 1946 to parents Granvil Edward Bates and Ara Blanche Graves Bates in St. Louis, Missouri. He worked in the environmental field for over 30 years and will be missed greatly by the community, as he was well known among the real estate and restoration companies throughout the state for his vast knowledge of the mold industry. John, a respected Air Force veteran, was a happy, go-lucky guy, and often found friends everywhere he went. He loved to keep in touch with all the great people he met. He enjoyed fishing and smoking his BBQ's (with his personal touch) and sharing them with many. He had lifetime dreams of fishing throughout his retirement years. He leaves behind many loving family members including: (sister) Nancy Carol Scanlan (deceased), (niece) Tina Maria Scanlan (of Marana, Arizona), and (nephew) Eugene Dwayne Bemis (of Bullhead City, Arizona), (brother) Richard H. Johnson, (sister-in-law) Karen Johnson, and (nieces) Amanda Sorena and Kaitlin Truelove (of Houston, Texas), (sister) Patricia Ann Bates (of Tucson, Arizona), (daughter) Heather Ann (Bates) Adams, (son-in-law) Scott Adams, and (grandson) Boyce Adams (of Vail, Arizona), (son) Christopher Granvil Bates, and (daughter-in-law) Meghan Bates (of Tucson, Arizona). John Granvil Bates will be incredibly missed by his loving friends and family.
