John M. Berlin, of Englewood, FL and Spruce Pine, NC; died at his home in Englewood on May 18, 2006 he was 73 years old. He was born to the late Donald & Rosella Berlin, in Livingston, CA on May 23, 1932. He resided in Brookfield, OH where he had worked for Sharon Steel Corp. and began his own neon and sign business. Upon moving to Englewood in 1960 he founded the Berlin Sign Company and has been operating at the company’s present location in Venice since 1964. A member of the Elks, Venice Lodge #301 F. &A. M. he was also a licensed pilot. He was preceded in death by three sons, John Michael, James Donald and William Lee. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jean; daughter Catherine Pickett of Englewood; brother Donald of Berlin Center, OH; sister Delores Witzigman of West Middlesex, PA; grandsons, Michael W. of Everett, WA, Jason B. of Sarasota, FL and John K. Pickett of Englewood; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, May 23, 2006at Farley Funeral Home Venice Chapel. A Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at the Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care 5955 Rand Blvd Sarasota, FL 34238 or to The Masonic Home of Florida 3201 1st Street NE St. Petersburg, FL 33704.
