John B. Butler
May 2nd, 1922 - January 28th, 2008
Butler, John B. "Jack", known to the family as "Bubba Jack", 85, of St. Petersburg, died Monday, January 28th, 2008 at Bay Pines VA Health Care System. He was born in Lakeland and was a 1941 graduate of Bartow High School. He attended Georgia Tech University until he enlisted in the Army/Air Corp during WW II. He served in the Air force for 29 years and retired as Lieutenant Colonel. During his service, he flew bombers over Germany and fighters over Europe, China, and the Pacific Theater. He also served in Korea and Viet Nam. After retiring from the Air Force in 1972, he worked with Mobley Real Estate Company in St. Petersburg until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Pinellas Park Church of Christ where he served as Treasurer for many years and he was in charge of the food pantry. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. His caretakers for the past several years were his niece, Mary Julia Cribbs and his nephews, Phil Thomas and James Cribbs. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Louise B. Butler; 6 nieces, Laurie Buck Barlik, Jan Bohannan Killibrew, Susan Bohannan Johnson, Patty Buck Pinder, Marilyn Buck Kelly, and Carolyn Buck Rodman; and 3 nephews, William Thomas, Joe Buck, and Larry Buck. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Frances B. Thomas. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. Friday at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Centers-Tyrone Chapel, 7820 38th Ave. No., where the Funeral will be held at 11:00 A.M. Interment with full military honors will be held at 2:30 P.M. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
