John "Jack" Stanton Campbell
July 18th, 1932 - August 26th, 2024
John (Jack) Stanton Campbell Jack was born on July 18, 1932 in Superior, WI and passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024 in Tacoma, WA. In the span of those 92 years, Jack lived a life full of adventure and filled with love for family, friends and his faith in Jesus Christ! In his early childhood, he grew up in Duluth, MN with his two sisters Patricia Hansen and Mary (Kay) Seeberger. Their parents decided to follow other family members and moved to Tacoma, WA where Jack graduated from Bellarmine Prep High School. Soon after graduation he entered the Air Force serving his country during the Korean War. Jack was stationed near London, England for 3 years, coordinating flights from the US to Korea. He was given an Honorable Discharge and was forever proud of his military service. Upon his return in 1956, he fell deeply in love with Patricia (Pat) Decker and they were married on February 15, 1958 in Tacoma. They shared a boundless love throughout their 66+ years of marriage. They navigated life’s challenges as true partners in parenting, business, devotion to faith and their focus on family and friends. They cared for each other throughout their marriage and they filled their home with love and laughter! Each morning, they shared their coffee while looking over their beautiful flower garden and their evening happy hours were epic events we all enjoyed together!
Jack and Pat raised four children in Tacoma. Mark (Beth) Campbell; Nancy Beck; Linda (Chris) Boldt; and Jeff (Jessie) Campbell. They instilled in us the value of family and to always keep family first in every aspect of life. Their legacy of family and faith continues to be shared with their 9 grandchildren 8 great grandchildren.
Jack spent countless hours playing catch or shooting hoops with all of us after work. He loved to attend the various events we were involved in and did the same with his grandkids. He encouraged us to be good sports, to give our best effort, to show respect while celebrating the accomplishments of the team over individual glory. Jack had a successful career spanning 40+ years in the floor covering industry. He worked at G.W. Paulson Company as their lead contractor for major floor covering projects in the Puget Sound area. Later in his career, he opened Campbell Cox Floor Covering with his long-time business partner, Garland Cox. Campbell Cox was a huge success and Jack attributed that to the unwavering support and encouragement from his wife, Pat. Jack trusted his instincts and made every effort to deliver on his word, and his clients recognized him for his honesty and integrity. After a stellar career, Jack retired from Campbell Cox and put his focus on enjoying his retirement years with his beloved wife and his growing family. They loved going to the beach with the “6” (his sisters and their husbands), visiting Hawaii and spending time in Palm Springs. But most of all, they loved being together!
Jack and Pat purchased a lake property and this became our family gathering place from the opening day of fishing season through the early months of Fall. Our family has spent countless hours working and playing on the property for over 50 years. Four generations of families worked hard and played just as hard. Where fishing and cribbage games were daily occurrences. A place filled with more memories for our families than any other, thanks to Mom and Dad. Jack’s legacy is all about his unshakable love and devotion to his family and his faith. We are so grateful to carry his love in our hearts and for us to share his love with generations to come!
