John Walter Christensen
July 1st, 1935 - December 20th, 2023
John Walter Christensen – Memorial Services for John W. Christensen, 88, of Lexington, will be announced at a later date. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements. John Christensen passed away on December 20, 2023. Born in Chicago, IL, he was a son of the late Edgar and Josephine G. Christensen. John served his country proudly in the US Air Force as a nuclear fuse technician, and attended the US Air Force Military College. He was a lover of model building of all kinds including aircraft, boats and trains. He also enjoyed listening to jazz music of all types and had a special interest in Frank Sinatra, Dave Brubeck and Tony Bennett. John also enjoyed reading mystery novels and watching westerns with John Wayne. John is survived by his son, John W. Christensen, Jr., of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Joanne Wood of North, SC; grandchildren, Heather Martinez of Woodstock, GA, Brenden Christensen of Denver, CO, Daniel Louvier of Lexington, SC, Donavin Louvier of Bamberg, SC, DeAnna Louvier Snyder of Swansea, SC; great grandchildren, Ean and Lena Martinez, Peyton and Madison Christensen, Riley, Deborah, Jonathan and Katherine Louvier. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by the love of his life, his late wife, Joan Majors Christensen; his daughter, Nancy Christensen; and his brother, Edgar Christensen. The family would like to thank the Certified Nursing Assistants who cared for him for the past two years, and the staff of Prisma Health Baptist Medical Center at Parkridge for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Riverbanks Society, 500 Wildlife Parkway, Columbia, SC 29210.
