John Cordova
October 10th, 1949 - September 1st, 2018
John Francis Cordova of Lakewood Colorado passed away on Sunday September 1st of 2018. John was admitted to Collier Hospice for comfort care while preparing for final stage of life. John was a fifth generation Colorado native born in Denver on October 10th 1949. His parents were Rudolfo Cordova and Francis Consuelo Sena Cordova. John had good memories of spending time with his grandparents Margarita Valdez Sena, Timotero Sena at their house in Denver’s Alaria-Swansea neighborhood. He is survived by his Sisters, Judy Cordova, Lucinda Peterson, and Margaret Cordova, and his Brother Paul. Johns proudest family moments were his marriage to Donna E. Krichbaum in September of 1977, the birth of his son Jason Scott, his daughter, Tracy Lynne, and his granddaughter Leighton Gray. John was a graduate of Mullen High School, Class of 1969. He attended Red Rocks Community College, Metropolitan State College of Denver, University of Denver, and University of Colorado. He was a member of United Mexican American Students while attending college with his Sister Judy, and participated in various social justice movements including speaking out against the Vietnam war. Mr Cordova enjoyed working at Graphic Design Studios in Boulder. John went to New Orleans and worked on a tugboat moving cargo along the intercoastal waterway. He worked as an appliance maintenance technician in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley, and continued this work after returning to Lakewood in the early 1990s. John was a brotherhood member of the Knights of Columbus and retired as a custodian from Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and School, a role that he considered a ministry and service to God and his community. John also volunteered at the Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Museum in the restorations department. He helped to restore and rebuild classic aircraft for museum displays which nurtured a lifelong interest in Aviation and Aerospace. Memorial donations may be made to: Donna E. John was an avid reader and inspired a love for literature in his children. Ray Bradbury, and J.R.R. Tolkin were among his favorite authors. Cazz Adams, M.C. Escher, HR Giger wer his favorite artists.
