John C. DeMay
November 26th, 1943 - February 9th, 2019
John C. DeMay, 75, of Johnstown passed away on February 9, 2019, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Little Falls, New York on November 26, 1943, and is the son of the late Charles J. and Emilie T. (Dunderdale) DeMay. He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, who he joined in marriage on July 9, 1966. A son Jonathan E. (Ambika) DeMay of Manhattan, and by his two granddaughters, Ashwara and Alana. He is also survived by a cousin, Louis Dunderdale. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Sandra Reising. During his lifetime, he worked as a Correctional Officer in the New York State Department of Corrections, and for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department. He also served his Country in the U.S. Navy and the Air National Guard, and was deployed during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Operation Desert Storm. He also loved his family very much especially his granddaughters whom he adored. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, New York 12010 on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 205 Glebe Street, Johnstown, New York with Father Matt Wetsel. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s memory can be made by mail to the Bob Woodruff Foundation, 1350 Broadway, Suite 905, New York, NY 10018, or online at bobwoodrufffoundation.org.
