Obituary It's with a heavy heart to announce that John 'Jack' Warren Doherty (85) passed peacefully on Wednesday morning October 12th, 2022 at the Namaste Nursing Center in Colorado Springs. John was born to Mary Virginia 'Dinny' Warren (Washington DC) and John Morris Doherty (Grimbsby, UK) at Columbia Hospital in Washington DC on January 17th, 1937. He spent most of his childhood living in Northwest Washington DC and graduated from Mount Saint Joseph's High School in Baltimore Maryland in 1957. In High School he played and excelled in Football and Basketball. John started working as a Brick Layer and later in excelled in sales for the Cushwa Brick Company in Washington, DC. He went on to work in construction sales for 25 years at the Virginia Concrete Company in Springfield, VA where he retired in 1990. He married Annette Cecile Reiser on September 19th 1959 and they had five (5) children: John 'Joe' Joseph (Arlington, VA), Anne-Maire (deceased) married to Shelby Eades (Pensacola, FL), Mary Catherine 'MC' married to Gary Harper (Calhan, CO), Timothy Michael 'Mike/MD' married to Nicole Sturm (San Diego, CA), and David Frank (San Diego, CA). He was an avid baseball Coach for his sons at Arlington Little League @ Barcroft Fields and continued to coach Baseball and Basketball for more than 15 years in Arlington, and later for his grandsons in Ellicott, CO. He was also a proud and active member of the Arlington Better Sports Club while he resided in Northern Virginia until 1995. John moved to Pensacola Florida to help raise his granddaughter Savannah Maire Eades, married to Brian Mak (Pensacola, FL). In 1997 he moved to Colorado Springs to help raise his grandsons: Christopher 'Chris' Harper, married to Erin Larwick (Florissant, CO), Patrick 'Pat' Harper, married to Ashlee Stratton (Golden, CO) and Garrett Harper (Denver, CO). During Jack's retirement in Colorado Springs, while he wasn't coaching or watching his grandsons sporting events, he was an avid golfer working as a Starter, Marshal and Cart Guy at World Golf of Colorado Springs (3 years). He then moved to work at Valley Hi Golf Course (10 years) until he wasn't able make it to the tee-box any longer. He loved the Men's Senior Golf League of Colorado Springs for many years, and would be seen regularly around the course, putting green, driving range or cart shack. If he wasn't there, he'd be enjoying a post round libation and meal at the 19th Hole while watching the College Football, Basketball, PGA or his beloved Rockies or Broncos. His final wish was to donate his body to the University of Colorado Anatomical Medical Board in Denver for research. A Donor Family Memorial Service is held there every Spring just prior to Medical Student Graduation at the Anschutz Medical School on the Aurora Campus. After Jack's final duty assignment helping Medical Students are completed, his remains will be returned to the family for interment on the Harper Family Tree Farm Memorial Arboretum in Calhan, CO where he'll get to bask in the endless sunshine and spectacular sunset views of the Pikes Peak Mountain range. For those who are interested in the Anatomical Board Donation Program please check out their web pages and FAQs.
