John ""Jack"" Richard Ensminger Sr., 92, of Cape Canaveral, Florida passed away Saturday, August 6 peacefully in his sleep at his granddaughter's home in Orlando. He was the husband for 63 years of his adored late wife, Katherine ""Kae"" Heywood Ensminger, who passed away January of 2007. Born August 15, 1923 in Marysville, Pennsylvania, he was the only child of George Alfred and Sarah Jane Aikens Ensminger. He was preceded in death by infant son, William Craig Ensminger in 1945 and daughter Linda Kae Ensminger Rozzelle in August 2007. Jack and Kae moved from Silver Spring, Maryland to Florida in 1996. Jack's career with AT&T spanned 40 years from 1941 to 1981. Prior to his retirement, he worked in Sales and Marketing serving various Air Force command accounts. Jack served in the U.S. Navy as an Electronic Technician during World War II. He also served in the USAF in Seoul, Korea as a Communications Officer. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his mission in charge of all 5th AF Long Lines Communications. He was also a 32 Degree Mason and a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Jack was a fanatical Notre Dame Football fan. Kae bought into the program whole heartedly, which resulted in them attending games from 1941 throughout many years. Jack and Kae went on many ocean cruises, mostly out of Port Canaveral. Jack was a very devoted and cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his loving family; sister Marion Simmons of Silver Spring, MD, son John Richard Ensminger Jr (Mary), of Long Beach Island, NJ, Edwin Rozzelle, son in law, of Ijamsville, Maryland. Four grandchildren, Kerri Ann Sofield (Tom) of Orlando, John Todd Markowitz (Angi) of Houston, John Richard Ensminger III (Jenny) of Charleston, SC, Kristen Marie Ensminger Stewart (Geoff) of Tampa. Five treasured great grandchildren Tabitha Nicole Sofield, Alexandra Katherine Ensminger, Samantha Nicole Stewart, Elizabeth Rae Stewart, and Cyrus Jackson Kaye Alexander of Houston. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 20, 2016 at noon at Beckman-Williamson Funeral home, 101 N. Brevard Avenue, Cocoa Beach, 32931 Following the service, Jack and Kae's ashes will be interred together at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 525 Minuteman Causeway, Cocoa Beach, with his Pastor Jay Bergstresser Officiating. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to contribute to the John Ensminger Memorial Fund at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
